In this facilitator training, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of substance use and addiction, including becoming familiar with medication assisted treatment (MAT) and impacts on parenting
  • Increase understanding of how substance use effects the parent-child relationship
  • Promote empathy for parents with substance use disorders
  • Gain knowledge of the Nurturing Program for Families in Substance Abuse Treatment & Recovery and familiarity with a range of skills including group facilitation, strategies, techniques and group dynamics
  • Gain familiarity with the parallel developmental stages and struggles of human growth and development, parenting development, and stages of recovery
  • Gain insight into the diversity of family structures and relationships and the impact of substance use disorders on families

The training will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
