Support for Puerto Rico Hurricane Victims

Family Resource Centers logo

We’d like to share a request from Aida Castro, Program Director at the Lawrence Family Resource Center:

Good morning,

As most of you are aware, Hurricane Maria has devastated the Island of Puerto Rico. My family and I are joining the efforts of collecting donations to send to the victims, which many of them are members of my own family. It is expected that the Island is going to be without power for three to six months. Hundreds of people lost their homes and are now homeless. It is heartbreaking to see so much devastation and suffering.

My husband will personally be traveling to the Island to bring a shipping container to distribute the donations to the victims. If you would like to contribute, you can bring the donation to me and I will bring them to 530 Broadway, or I will figure out a way to get them picked up at your FRC. Contact me at or 978-327-6634.

Please keep the Puerto Rican community in your thoughts and prayers. This experience has been, by far, the most excruciating experience of my life. Many families are still desperately trying to find out if their loved ones are ok, including myself. Many of the families we serve are being impacted by this horrific situation. Anything that you are able donate will be truly appreciated.
The items that are being collected are:

  • Diapers/wipes
  • Baby formula/food
  • Boxed food
  • Canned food
  • Bottled water
  • Flashlights/batteries
  • Toys
  • Summer clothing for men, women, babies and children
  • Disposable utensils
